  • How are ceramic coatings applied to vehicle surfaces?

    Ceramic coatings always start as a liquid-based formula. This means that regardless of where you want the coating applied, it is done so by hand before curing to a slick, hydrophobic, and durable shell over those areas. Not only do I provide a seamless hand installation here at Ceramic Studio Worx, I also have specialty ceramic coatings for wheels, rims, and other unique areas.

  • Are ceramic coatings the doorway to having a no-maintenance automobile?

    All of my ceramic coating packages here at my Budd Lake, New Jersey detailing shop are extremely LOW maintenance; however, they are NOT considered to be a no-maintenance solution. Hydrophobic nanotechnology helps them essentially clean themselves in many cases of light environmental contamination, but excessive messes will require you to bring your ride in and have it professionally detailed so as to not scratch or marr the coating itself.

  • Can I wash my car after a ceramic coating is fully cured?

    You are able to wash your ceramic coating at home with delicate microfiber towels and industry-verified cleaning solutions. I strongly recommend against taking your coated car, truck, or SUV to any public car wash here in Budd Lake, New Jersey. Even touchless washes can scratch and etch your coating, slowly ruining it and diminishing its hydrophobic surface.

  • Can I apply car wax over a ceramic coating?

    You can always pair a safe wax with your ceramic coating, though it is not entirely necessary. Of course, much like hand washing your coated vehicle at home, I recommend caution with what type of surface wax you choose to utilize on your Ceramic Coating, as applying any store bought materials to a ceramic coating can sometimes affect the warranty of products.

Myth 1: You won’t need to wash your car after a ceramic coating is applied

While ceramic coatings are resistant to dust, dirt, and other general environmental contamination buildup, that doesn’t mean they can go without a hand wash every now and again. Especially as environmental contaminants build up in excess, some will stick (although they will not leave stains), which means your ride would benefit from my two bucket hand wash and clay bar decontamination.

Myth 2: Ceramic coatings will protect your car from scratches

This common misconception is heard all too frequently here at Ceramic Studio Worx. Being a liquid formula that then hardens on your car, truck, or SUV’s surface, they create a shell-like surface rather than a self-healing barrier like that of a PPF. This means that while they are hydrophobic and resistant to UV rays, they are still affected by general scratches and nicks.

Myth 3: Ceramic coatings will repair defects in my exterior coating

Ceramic coatings are not intended to heal or repair any pre-existing scratches, scrapes, or dents in your vehicle’s exterior paintwork. There are certain paint correction formulas on the market that do this, but my ceramic coatings merely create a hydrophobic surface that actually highlights and enhances the appearance of applicable surfaces. While this makes paint look even better, it will only make paint defects appear more prominent.
